• What is the W3?

Most weeks your child will come home with a packet of work from the previous week on Tuesday afternoon. In addition, I will be sending in a Smore Newsletter listing the assignments and activities included in the packet.

The Week’s Worth of Work (W3) is a vital communication tool for everyone - the student, the parent, and the teacher. By knowing what papers are heading home it enures ALL assignments make it home for parents to see. Without it, a student could "misplace" a poor test or assignment on the bus or in a trash can, and the parent would never be aware of it.

In the end, the W3 (along with the graded papers) is a communication tool between the parent and their child as to how well they did on assignments, to evaluate how well they prepared for them, and to discuss ways to improve on future assignments. It also prevents the "surprise" element at the end of each quarter when unwanted grades may be displayed. It prevents the parent from never knowing there was a problem in the first place.

AFTER REVIEWING THE GRADED ASSIGNMENTS & ACTIVITIES

THERE IS NO NEED FOR YOUR CHILD TO RETURN THEM TO SCHOOL.

Finally, this is a communication tool developed, refined, and perfected during my tenure as a 5th grade teacher. Thank you for your patience as I fine tune this process for a 3rd grade classroom.
