• This program offers Indiana students an opportunity to enjoy a list of nominated titles and from them vote for their favorite to win the Young Hoosier Book Award.

    There are two elementary school levels:  Picture Book and Intermediate.
    Students in grades K - 3 must read or listen to at least 12 books from the list prior voting.
    Grade 4 - 6 students must read or hear a minimum of 5 nominated titles to qualify as a voter in late April.

    The winner of the Picture Book category is Cat Secrets by Jef Czekaj with 8,614 votes. There were a total of 44,317 votes in this category.

     

    The winner of the Intermediate Book category is Smile by Raina Telgemeier with 2,041 votes. There were a total of 11,969 votes in this category.
