    (including Audio/Visual)

    Welcome to East's Technology Department!

Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation (BCSC) serves approximately 12,000 students who live in Bartholomew County.  The district serves most of the county, the exception being the northwest corner of the county that is served by the Flatrock-Hawcreek School Corporation.  BCSC has 17 instructional facilities consisting of 3 high schools, 2 middle schools, 11 elementary schools, and an adult education facility.  In addition to the schools, there are three administrative buildings, the Administration Building, Informational Services Center (ISC), and the Transportation and Maintenance Building.  In fall 2011, BCSC will open an early childhood center.

Each site is connected to the corporation's WAN by either a 100MB connection or through private fiber.  Novell servers are the foundation of the corporation network, which also includes a growing number of Windows servers supporting specific applications.

Classrooms have one networked teacher computer and two networked student computers (elementary level), and a phone with voice mail.  At the secondary level, student computers are clustered in labs, mini-labs, or resource areas instead of being located in classrooms.  Offices are similarly configured with one computer per staff member and a phone with voice mail.

Our current hardware standards included Dell PCs and Toshiba phone systems.  In addition to the over 4,600 networked computers, other instructional technology includes overhead and LCD projectors, flatbed scanners, digital still and video cameras, and video and audio players.  Windows XP is the current operating system standard.  GroupWise, Office, Internet Explorer, PowerSchool Student Management system, Skyward Financial, and 360Facility are our district standard applications.

The Technology Division is responsible for supporting the use and maintenance of technology within the district.  Building Technologists, with limited assistance from Media and Audio Visual Center personnel, make up the first line of support.   With the exception of the high schools, Building Technologist support two or more buildings.  Supporting Building Technologist in this work are an Advanced PC/Network Specialist, Telecommunications Technician, and an in-house repair department consisting of two Electronics/Computer Repair Technicians.  The Director of Technology, Coordinator of Operations, Network Administrator, Information Systems Department, and Administrative Assistance to the Director make up the remainder of the department.
