The mission of the Columbus East High School guidance department is to provide an environment rich with the opportunities and the support that will enable all students to develop and acquire the skills, attitudes and knowledge necessary for a productive life in an ever-changing society.

Each student is assigned a guidance counselor.  Guidance counselors work with students to develop their four year high school plans, to take appropriate and challenging courses, to counsel about career, academic and life goals, and to provide information, support and assistance for students with special needs and issues.  The guidance department works directly with students, parents, teachers, administrators, and other school and community members to foster, promote and improve student success and achievement in high school.  Counselors assist students in the development of an understanding of themselves, the rights and needs of others, how to resolve conflict and to define individual goals, reflecting their interests, abilities and aptitudes.
