•  Welcome to Global Studies!  My name is John Voelz, and I teach 7th grade social studies on the Tyro Team.  I am a proud father of 2 young boys, Jackson and Harrison, and husband to my wife, Casey.  I graduated from Ball State University with a master’s degree in school administration.  I began my teaching career on Hilton Head Island, where I taught middle and high school social studies.  I taught in Center Grove Schools for a decade (half of that time as a 5th grade teacher at Center Grove Elementary and the other half at Middle School Central, where I taught 6th grade science, social studies, and language arts).  I'm very excited for the opportunity to continue my teaching career here at Northside, back in my hometown at the same school I graduated from. Go Spartans!

    My family

     

     This year we will be studying the geography, history, culture, governments, and economic systems of countries in Africa, Asia, and the Southwest Pacific.  Students will learn about China, Japan, Sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East & North Africa, India, and Oceania.
