    I Love Teaching DRAFT

    Quick & easy way to write a killer conclusion. 1. Copy/paste your intro to the conclusion space. 2. Highlight it or change to font color to signal the words that are copied. 3. Change up the words, but keep the general meaning. 4. Try for a clever, memorable last line. AVOID quotations, paraphrases, or questions in conclusions.

    How to do hanging indents to format citations in Works Cited list.

    Read your draft aloud to your writing partner and group.

    On Track: Header, Heading, Title, Intro (with NO quotations), and BODY (with 3 IQCE'd quotations/paraphrases), and conclusion (with NO quotations/paraphrase) finished today.

    Advanced: work on BALANCING the paragraphs. This means each paragraph should be about the same length (number of words/lines).

    Good news for those of you who don't like using quotation marks. You can PARAPHRASE!

    Time to write. You will read your draft to your writing partner and group tomorrow.

    NOTICE: Get your typing speed up! I'll record NitroType results end of this week.

    Goal: I'll make a quotation sandwich... 

    Why:...so I can practice this skill and digest it.

    Composition book/notes: Here's how square brackets are used in quotations. Copy this original quotation precisely: "Reading is a process and it changes you" (1).

    1) Margaret Atwood wants readers to realize that "[r]eading is a process and it changes [them]" (1).

    2) According to Atwood, reading can "change[] you" (1).

    Finished? Do this: Quotations sandwich; print in the library.
