My name is Danielle Bonam. I am originally from Zionsville, Indiana. I have a Bachelor's of Science in Education from Indiana University, Bloomington, with a focus in History (US and World), Government/Civics and Geography. I started teaching Eastern Hemisphere History at Northside Middle School in January of 2014. Previously, I taught Military, World and US History for Moorseville and Whiteland High Schools as well as substituting in Monroe County.

I am very passionate about history and the connections to Current Events throughout the world. It is my goal to help students find interestest through understanding. In studying the Eastern Hemisphere, students are exposed to a concept of culture that is extremely different than that in the United States. We focus not only on historical events, but on empathetic understanding of other peoples.

In Trailblazer Social Studies we spotlight the history, geography and cultures of China, Japan, the Middle East Region, Sub-Saharan African Countries, India and Australia. Trailblazer Social Studies also contains content on map reading skills, map reading skills allows students to understand the connection between geography and its affects on the populations that live within these geographic regions. Another important skill in Trailblazer Social Studies is learning to "read like a historian" using the historical perspective. The historical perspective makes sure that students analyze historical documents with a basis in setting as well as the understanding of bias within historical documents.

I have previously coached Track for NMS and am the Social Studies Academic Team coach.
