    Business

    By May, 2013 each Business teacher will be using My Big Campus as the mechanism to list assignments, make announcements to our students, and communicate with our students in at least one Business class that we teach during the first and second semester of 2012-2013.

    Social Studies
    We the members of the Social Studies Department will engage 100% of our students in every Social Studies classroom in 2012-2013 by representing the subject matter in a variety of ways, implementing more problem solving techniques, making Social Studies more applicable to our student’s lives, and allowing students more choice in how they demonstrate their knowledge (expression).

    Special Education

    By May 2013, the CNHS Special Education Department will increase & enhance CNHS Special Education population's the use of Naviance program as a comprehensive college and career planning tool by 100%.

    HPER

    In order to create a fully exclusive and safe environment for all students, we will add to our Physical Education class curricula plans for students with physical disabilities by December, 2012.

    English

    In the 2012-13 school year, the English department at North and the language arts department at Northside will organize in combined Goal Action Teams that will align scope and sequence from grades 7-12 in five areas: literature, writing, communications/literacy, research/technology, and promotion/outreach. Baseline data will be the most current results from ISTEP, Acuity, ECA, ACT, PLAN, and EXPLORE. Measureable results will be improvement from all groups of students on all these measurements. Creation and product from these GATs will be a one-year goal with the expectation that specific GATs and team members will be revisited in April, 2013 with the maintain this goal but improve the specifics in future school years.

    Science

    Science teachers will use UDL based modeling techniques to improve the success of special populations and make science more accessible to all students.  In this third year, each area (biology, chemistry, integrated chemistry physics, physics and earth and space science) will create a common strategy and/or common measure to evaluate the success of the special population students.

    Math

    Math teachers will continue to work with special needs teachers on math content and strategies and expand session to include Geometry and Algebra 2.

    Teachers will implement common assessments in common courses, incorporate the 9 UDL guidelines in math lessons and become proficient at using Smartboard technology.

    Develop a new curriculum for the existing North Stars class that focuses on individual growth in music by studying different genres each nine weeks.
