The 1980's
In the spring of 1985, the Judson S. Erne Auditorium opened at Columbus North High School, and now the North Drama program finally had a home. Sets, props and costumes could be stored and reused. Students would have to learn how to run wireless microphones and focus lights. This was the single greatest event in North Drama history, and it created a home and paved the way for everything else to come. Now having a home base, Tower quickly expanded the program. He created a third show opportunity, an Evening of Theatre. He believed this production should encompass different areas of performance, including instrumental and vocal performances. He also believed in bringing others into the process. In 1989, he coordinated a residency with well-known playwright Stephen Gregg, who directed one of his own plays. In 1988, he let one of his students direct for Evening of Theatre, the first time a student had directed a play in several decades.1989-1990Makin' It, Evening of Theatre '90, How to Succeed in Business WithoutReally Trying1988-1989David and Lisa, Evening of Theatre '89, Godspell1987-1988The Matchmaker, Evening of Theatre '88, The Wizard of OZ1986-1987Ah, Wilderness!, Evening of Theatre, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers1985-1986Our Town, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat1984-1985A Murder is Announced, Mame1983-1984Feiffer's People, Once Upon a Mattress1982-1983Lou Gehrig Didn't Die of Cancer, Grease1981-1982The Wizard of OZ1980- 1981Annie Get Your Gun1979-1980Anything GoesVisit other North Drama ErasWe have incomplete information for some of these years and shows.
